Our Traffic Engineering & Planning Department is involved in a variety of projects, including traffic impact studies, safety and traffic calming studies, transportation modeling and simulation, signal timing optimization, traffic signal and Intelligent Transportation System design, transit planning, pedestrian/bicycle planning, and long-range transportation planning.

In this position, the candidate will:

• Perform computations and data analyses
• Create models of transportation and traffic flow
• Perform quality control self-checks of assigned work
• Diagnose transportation issues through field observations
• Assist in the development of alternatives and solutions to identified problems
• Prepare project reports, graphics, and figures
• Perform other duties associated with this position

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or similar engineering field
• Passed, or pursuing passage of the FE/EIT exam
• Previous internship experience related to traffic engineering
• Experience or familiarity with AutoCAD, Microstation, ArcGIS, Synchro, VISSIM, Highway Capacity Software, Adobe Creative Suite, and Tableau is helpful.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
